Happy Weekend...

Hi All!
Friday is here again! What a glorious week it has been! The sun has been shining constantly, and I've enjoyed every minute if it! I think it puts everyone in such a good mood!

Yesterday turned out to be the highlight of my week, when I was both thrilled and amazed to win a competition for a Duffy cashmere cardigan over on The Online Stylist. The gorgeous Amanda has an amazing blog full of great fashion inspiration. It is a fabulous piece and a huge thank you to Stanwells boutique and Duffy for the lovely prize! I can't wait to wear it and show it to you all!  The above set is my winning entry. I had to style an outfit around a Duffy piece... I would happily wear each and everyone one of them!! All items are available at

This morning my family are arriving, and my mum will be staying on with me for a few weeks :)
I hope you all have a great weekend!

Style Inspiration: Nautical But Nice...

Today we visited Blessington Lakes in Co Wicklow for an early lunch! It was absolutely gorgeous and the perfect setting for my nautical themed look.
I wore a navy striped blouse from Penneys with wide legged cream trousers from Next ... I finished off the look with a red tote and Oasis sandals.

The view of the lake from the restaurant...

It is so hard to believe we have weather like this
 at the moment in Ireland!
I would still be over there, only I had to come back to do the school run!!
Here's hoping that the Summer
hasn't come too early this year!:)

Hope you are all enjoying the day!

Spring Mornings...

The one drawback with the unseasonable weather of late, is the early morning's are still on the cool side, but by noon it's quite warm for this time of year! I find the best items to have at the moment are Spring knits teamed with neutral trousers and pumps . Add a scarf and tote and you are good to go whether for the school run or a morning shopping. By wearing a plain t-shirt underneath you can shed a layer if it gets a bit warmer later on!  Here is my inspiration for achieving this look...

Jeans/Dorothy Perkins  Jumper/Zara   T-shirt/Mango   Bag/J Crew  Scarf/Dorothy Perkins
Pumps/Nine West

These neutral jeans are a great asset to any wardrobe at this time of year, and the high street is full of different styles and colours at the minute. Check out Zara ,Penneys, H&M and Topshop for various other styles at very affordable prices. If you want to glam up  for a coffee or lunch date, just pile on some costume bangles or a statement necklace for a more polished look! My shoe department definitely needs attention, as it's always hard to shift from boots to a lighter style, but pumps and low heeled wedges are a  great option for this in-between stage!

Hope you all have a good day!

Sunny Days...

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and weather as nice as mine! The sun shone brightly, perfect for relaxing days and  leisurely afternoon walks. Everything always seems so much better with weather like this!! The clocks have also gone forward an hour, so we can look forward to brighter evenings ahead :-)

Very early morning shadows! Can't waste a day here when the sun makes an appearance:-)

On Saturday,I made these gorgeous garlic toasties with pesto and sundried tomatoes on top! A very simple idea which went down a treat, especially when eaten alfresco with a nice chilled vino!!

Yesterday we went for an afternoon stroll around a local country manor! It has gorgeous gardens to relax in the perfect way to while away an hour or two, and enjoyed a lovely lunch !

I even got out of my boots and gave my new wedges an airing!

The weather is supposed to stay like this all week ,so I will be taking full advantage of it!

Hope you all have a fabulous week!

Fab Friday....

Happy Friday !

This week has been so short and has gone by in a flash... always happens after a bank holiday. The weather was gorgeous all week. The sun has been shining brightly and I am looking forward to getting the garden spruced up for Easter:)

I was also delighted to receive the Kreativ award for a second time  from the lovely Beth over at Style Guile.  She has a fabulous blog full of loads of fashion inspiration for all you stylish mummies out there , so go check  her out asap and you won't be disappointed!

In anticipation of fine weather I picked up some lovely wedges and a stripe sundress! Maybe it's wishful thinking but hopefully the sun is here to stay!! The dress might be a long shot, but at least I might get out of wearing boots for awhile!

We don't have much planned  for the weekend  but I am actually delighted with that ,as it gives me a chance to get things in order around here before Easter. I bought these little chicks this morning for Sarah to start decorating with!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend :)

Recipe: Traditional Brown Bread Loaf...

Today I am sharing a recipe for a brown bread loaf. The addition of  a dollop of honey gives it a nice moist flavour and it's also a healthier option than adding sugar!! If you don't wish to add the honey just omit it from the recipe . Go here for lots of similar versions...

250g wholemeal flour
200g white flour
1tsp bread soda
1tsp salt
1 egg
350ml buttermilk
1tsp honey

optional topping 1 tbsp of porridge oats

In a bowl combine the flours with the bread soda and salt. Mix the egg and buttermilk together and add the honey if using. Pour into the bowl of flours and combine well..

When mixed ,pour into a well greased 2lb loaf tin and scatter top with the oats. Make a deep ridge down the centre and one across middle. Bake for 40 to 45 mins in 180c oven

When baked turn it onto a bread board and tap the bottom lightly , if it sounds hollow it is ready. Wrap  in a tea towel while cooling to keep the crust soft. Enjoy with lots of butter and a nice cup of tea for a mid afternoon treat.

Hope you all have a lovely day!

Decor Inspiration: Wake Up To Spring...

On sunny Spring mornings, there is nothing better than waking up in a bright airy space! Add fresh sheets, some new bedding and a floral display into the mix and you have the perfect spot to start your day... Here are a few of my favourite photos for some lovely inspiration....

And for the younger ones I couldn't resist this gorgeous girly room! I have given up entering my boy's space as there should be a hazardous sign on the door outside!!  Luckily with two girls who love all things pink and fluffy, I can indulge and be a bit frivolous from time to time!

Hope you all glean some nice inspiration here! My own space is long overdue an overhaul ,so I think I need to get started on that asap!!

Have a lovely day!

Weekend Snaps...

Hi all!
Hope everyone had a good weekend! It was certainly an action packed one here with Patrick's day and Mother's day falling together this year. Saturday we went to our local parade as Sarah's friends took part in it singing and dancing. It was a lovely afternoon and at least the rain held off long enough for the parade to finish!

Yesterday dawned bright and sunny for Mother's day! I was totally spoiled, with breakfast in bed and some fabulous goodies to pamper myself with this week!

As it was such a nice day, I decided to wear my new yellow top from Zara ...perfect for a neon and neutral look! Very on trend and it was also a great bargain find for 8 Euro!!

I hope you all have a good week!

Party Weekend...

Happy Friday!

Hope you are all good! We are gearing up for a busy weekend here ahead of St Patrick's Day tomorrow! It also happens to be Mother's day on Sunday so I am really looking forward to that!

Tomorrow we will probably go to a parade with Sarah, here she is above all ready for her school play and dance today! I will cook the usual traditional dish of bacon and cabbage and perhaps wet a bit of the shamrock's head!!

I am really looking forward to some relaxation and pampering on Sunday for mother's day

Hope you all enjoy!

Savvy Shopping....

Hi All!

Today I am moving away from the fashion shopping for a moment to talk a little about how everyone manages their weekly supermarket shop. The reason for this being on a personal note, no matter how much list making I do, or weekly menus thought out, I still seem to find myself in a supermarket daily, filling a basket or trolley with unnecessary items and wasting money to boot!

What I am really interested in is whether ye all do one huge shop at the start of the weekend/week and never really have to go near a large supermarket until the next big drop. Or are most like me full of good intentions but tend to drift back in a day or two for more!! I know it is not easy with bigger families to buy everything in one go, but I do feel I waste a lot of money which could be spent more wisely elsewhere! My bag and shoe fund being top of the list!:)

Would love to hear some tips and feedback from everyone if you have a minute!
Have a good day:)

Decor Inspiration: Kitchen Living...

With more and more people choosing to entertain and dine at home, co-ordinating your living and cooking area is becoming increasingly popular. A kitchen island is a great addition to any home if space is permitting. They can be invaluable in terms of  cooking , giving  lots of extra storage for cutlery and linens ,as well as providing a fabulous prepping area to boot!

I am totally in love with the above kitchen! The dual islands, the wall colour and high beamed ceilings are just perfect! A great space for entertaining:) I am still trying to convince my OH that an island would not be another dumping ground for toys and books and general knick knacks that are presently lurking in other areas of our home!

Hope you all have a lovely day:)

Weekend Snaps...

Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a fabulous time over in Manchester. We did a lot of eating, drinking and shopping. The highlight of the trip was really for hubby as he had match tickets for Old Trafford yesterday.

Philip soaking in a bit of the atmosphere!!

He has followed the team since he was about seven so loves to get over to the games when  he can. I was delighted with all the shops at The Trafford Centre, and even more thrilled to pick up a leather jacket from Zara that I had been eyeing up for a while.

It's actually a great piece for the price as I had been looking for ages for a nice style and they were very expensive in other shops.

We had a lovely Italian meal and some riverside drinks by the canal near our hotel. I enjoyed the weekend immensely even though it was my first time at such a big game! My ears are still a little delicate this morning from all the chanting going on around me yesterday!!

Hope you all have a good week! We are gearing up over here for St Patricks day which falls on a Saturday this year, so a great weekend is in store!!

Take care!

Recipe: Pizza Casserole...

Today I am sharing a very quick and easy pasta based dish. Even though I am heading away for the weekend  my kids at home will still have to be fed ,so I love dishes you can prepare and leave covered in the fridge ready to bake. This is one of our favourites and so versatile and simple to make...

1lb  sausages
2 cups of pasta shapes
1 jar pasta sauce
1 cup water
some grated mozarella cheese for topping.
1 pkt of chorizo

Begin by boiling pasta shapes in water for 10 mins to soften. Fry the sausages on a pan until browned. Herby flavoured are great if you can get them! In a greased ovenproof dish layer the sausages and pasta . Pour over  the water and sauce. Layer the chorizo on top and sprinkle with the grated cheese. To bake just pop in a 180c oven  for 30 mins till piping hot.

This is a great standby dish as it can be cooked, cooled and covered in the fridge until it is ready to be used . I have this one cooked and will be leaving another covered and ready until needed. I am sure my lot will still be on the phone ordering pizza and chinese take out the minute I go out the door!!

As I have an early start tomorrow I wish you all a fabulous weekend. Look forward to catching up with everyone next week!:)

Getting Ready...

Hi all!

Today I am packing a few bits for my forthcoming weekend away in Manchester! I am trying to put together some neutral basics that will carry me from day to night with ease. Packing a capsule wardrobe cuts down on the amount of clothes I need to bring!
I also have a football match to attend while there on Sunday ,so I am sure very warm layers will be needed for this! (woolly cap and scarf me thinks!! lol .)
Here is a peek at some bits I have so far...

I bought a bag and scarf in New Look and matched them with beige ankle boots from Dunnes. These will be fine with my new basic Zara jeans and tops for daywear, and I am still putting a few options together for evening time.

Hope you all have a good afternoon!

The Little Things...

Now that Spring is upon us, I am sure we all have one room that is going to get a little makeover for the new  season. The quickest and easiest way is by adding some new soft furnishings and accessories.! It dosen't have to be done on a grand scale either! I love coming home with a new vase or cushions!... (After candles, they are my next favourite items for a quick room fix:) Even a bright teatowel adds interest to a dull kitchen:) Just looking at these bright zingy colours below  puts me in the mood for a little change up...

Orange cushion /Liberty. Other bits and bobs / Habitat.

Anyone planning any decor changes for the new Season?

Hope you all have a good day!

Happy Saturday...

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend. First up I want to thank you all for the lovely comments regarding Sarah yesterday! Today is the first day she has a normal temperature in a week! Picked up a nasty virus and tonsils were inflamed as well! It wasn't a good scene here this week I can tell you!! :(

As it is a bright sunny morning and things are almost back to normal, I am off for a trip to our local farmer's market and also my favourite garden centre for a few Spring blooms:) The rest of the weekend will be spent cooking some good food and relaxing with family! Sarah has requested chocolate brownies so I am presuming she is on the mend!!

Wishing you all a happy and healthy weekend!
